All of the hard-edged oil paintings represented
here were done in a period of compulsive "realism". I
grew very tired of these, disliked the end result of the
highly saturated colors my nature seemed to be unable to
dilute, and stopped using oils altogether many years ago
in favor of water colors and acrylics. The
improved drying time also made them more fun to work
with for me, and watercolors, especially, allowed a
fresher look and softer overall tone. Click on photos for
